To request your service be added to the Compass Directory, please review our inclusion policy below (hyperlink to Inclusion Policy) and submit an application form. All requests will be reviewed by an Advisory Group authorised to review any and all application forms from services who request their details be added to the Compass directory and be made publicly available on this website.

To learn more about this process and what it involves, please carefully read the following steps and submit your application form, if you still want to proceed.

The purpose of the application form is:

  • To ensure any service applying to the be included in the Compass director is aligned with the core values and objectives of St. Stephens Green Trust, the Irish Prison Service and the Probation Service, who are the funders of this directory.
  • To ensure that any service can provide evidence that services are provided free of discrimination and that services do not reject people from certain groups of society.

For any service to be included in the Compass directory, the application involves three steps:

  1. Submit an application form about your service and/or organisation;
  2. All submissions will be reviewed by an Advisory Group:
    1. If insufficient detail has been provided, or if there are any queries about the information that has been provided, the Advisory Group will offer an opportunity for your service/organisation to submit additional information, if this is required.
    2. The Advisory Group may also ensure that the service/organisation applying to be included in the Compass directory has no outstanding complaints with either the Irish Prison Service and/or Probation Service.
  3. If your application form has been approved, you will be sent an online survey. This online survey will be used to collect necessary information and detail about your service provision, which will later be added to the Compass Directory.
  4. If your organisation has not been approved, or if more information has been requested from your service/organisation, the reasons and specific information being requested will be communicated via email. It is the responsibility of the service provider who has submitted this application form to provide a response and/or provided this additional information in order for the Advisory Group to make a decision about whether your service can be added to the Compass directory.
  5. Services/organisations that have been refused may resubmit an application form after 12-months once these issues have been addressed.

Once submitted, all submissions will be reviewed by the Advisory Group. Please note, the Advisory Group does not meet on a regularly basis, so there may be some delay before you receive a response to your submission.

Organisational Governance and Practices Please answer the following questions to help the Advisory Group assess the governance and practices of your organisation.

Does the organisation have a safeguarding policy that applies to all staff and contractors?
Does the organisation openly communicates a lack of tolerance towards abuse of children and vulnerable people to staff, associates, contractors, other partners?
Does the organisation have robust recruitment screening processes for all personnel in contact with vulnerable people? Examples of these recruitment procedures include Garda Vetting process before engagement; written and verbal referee checks; interview plans that incorporate safeguarding-focused interview questions.
Does the organisation’s safeguarding policy include a documented reporting procedure for exploitation and abuse allegations of vulnerable people and policy non-compliance, including available sanctions for breaches?
Does the organisation provide safeguarding training for personnel?
Does the organisation’s safeguarding policy commit to preventing a person from working with vulnerable people if they pose an unacceptable risk?
Is the organisation’s safeguarding policy subject to regular review— or at least every 3 years?
Does the organisation undertake an annual risk assessment that covers all activities that have contact with vulnerable people? For example, the risk assessment should identify risks, classify any high-risk activities, and document steps being taken to reduce or remove these risks.
Does the organisation have beliefs that would mean it is difficult to provide a non-judgmental service to people of different sexual orientations or religions?
Has the organisation been the subject of the formal complaint with any prison or probation service?
